Constant high humidity puts Rize in the ISO 9223 C3-C4 range. The time the surface stays wet is far above the national average, and that is the parameter that governs corrosion. Rain falls so consistently that the door never finds an interval to dry; water clings to horizontal surfaces and profile joints, and moisture that has entered a joint freezes in winter and opens it by fractions of a millimetre, so it takes in more water at the next rain. The problem enlarges itself. A jointless one-piece body, sealed leaf edges and a fall on horizontal surfaces are therefore recommended here. Maintenance, warranty and spare parts

A steel door is not a maintenance-free product, but what it asks for is simple. Once a year, light oil on the hinges and the lock mechanism, a damp cloth along the gasket line and a fresh-water wash of the surface is enough in most cases. At addresses by the sea, shortening that cycle to six months keeps salt from settling into the paint film. A two-year warranty certificate is issued on delivery, and our cover for manufacturing and workmanship defects is not limited in time. On the lock mechanism the manufacturer's own warranty can run longer depending on the model. The only case outside the warranty is deformation caused by impact or forced entry. I thought a porch protected the door — doesn't it?

It shelters from rain but not from humidity, and it brings a disadvantage: a shaded surface does not dry. The humidity, already high in Rize, can sit for days on a face that gets no sun. Will a steel door swell in this damp?

Steel does not swell. What swells is the MDF substrate under timber cladding, once water reaches it at the edge. If a timber look is wanted on an exterior door we use composite or timber-patterned surfaces — the appearance is the same and damp does not affect them. We do not recommend real timber veneer on an exterior door in the Rize climate.
