Bayrakdoor Steel Doors

Pivot Steel Door Models

Pivot doors transfer the leaf's weight to floor and ceiling bearings instead of hinges. This allows leaves to be produced at heights and widths that standard hinges couldn't support — a preferred choice for wide-opening villa and hotel entrances.

How does a pivot door work?

A conventional door carries its weight on hinges fixed to the frame. On a pivot door the leaf turns on two bearings, one set into the floor and one into the head of the frame. Because the load goes to the floor rather than the hinges, we can build leaves wider and taller than standard hinges could ever carry.

When does a pivot door make sense?

A pivot is the right choice when the opening is wider than a standard leaf, when a high ceiling calls for a full-height leaf, or when thick cladding makes the leaf heavy. On an entrance of standard size it adds cost without offering any clear advantage.

What should you watch out for?

A pivot leaf sweeps both inward and outward as it turns, so you need clearance in front of the door and behind it. It is not suitable for narrow entrances that open straight onto a staircase. The floor has to be prepared where the bottom bearing sits, which is why installation goes more smoothly when the decision is made during construction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a pivot door more secure than a conventional one?

Security comes from the leaf material and the locking system, not from the turning mechanism. With the same body construction and the same lock, there is no security difference between the two.

Can a pivot door be fitted to an existing entrance?

Yes. We assess the condition of the floor during the site survey, and in most cases the preparation the bottom bearing needs can be carried out.

Do pivot doors have insulation problems?

Not when they are built properly. The turning axis makes it critical to get the seal detail right; the frame is sealed on three sides and the leaf on four with rubber gaskets.
