Why is a building entrance door built differently?
An apartment building entrance opens and closes hundreds of times a day, a load a villa door never sees. That is why 40x60 mm profile, internal ball-bearing hinges and a 304-grade stainless steel kickplate are standard on building doors. The lock and hinge areas of the leaf are reinforced with 3 mm angle iron.
What is the self-closing system?
It is the system that shuts the door on its own. A door left open at a building entrance is a security gap; the self-closing system closes it in roughly 6 seconds, and the hydraulic unit softens the closing speed.
Can card and keypad access be added?
Yes. Where many people share one entrance, managing cards or codes is far more practical than handing out keys. Card access and keypad locks can be fitted to any of our building entrance doors as an option. The cable routing is worked out during the site survey.
Double leaf or single leaf?
Double leaf is the usual choice at building entrances: the second leaf normally stays fixed, and opening it doubles the clear width when furniture has to be moved through. Side glass panels and a transom window can be added to bring light into the entrance hall.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a villa door be fitted at an apartment building entrance?
It is technically possible, but we do not recommend it. A villa door is not sized for the constant opening and closing of a shared entrance, and the hinges and lock wear out sooner than you would expect.
Is a decision from the building management required?
Because it is a common area, a resolution by the owners is usually needed. No decision is required for the site survey and quotation stage; we can measure the opening and prepare a price either way.
How many keys are supplied?
You receive the number of keys that comes with the lock set, and copies can be cut to match the number of flats. If you go with card or keypad access, there is no key distribution to deal with at all.
