Corrosion exposure
The bay and the coastal strip fall into class C4 under ISO 9223, with sea salt aerosol carried straight onto the surface. Inland, in areas such as Bornova and Buca, the class drops to C3.
What puts a door to the test in İzmir?
The mild Aegean winter is misleading where corrosion is concerned: the temperature never stresses the door, but salt-laden humidity works on it without a break all year. In summer the sea breeze carries salt particles kilometers inland, and salt build-up can be measured even at addresses that look far from the water.
Delivery and installation

How we build for İzmir
Along the coast we treat stainless steel hardware as standard. The leaf gets a multi-layer paint system, and for screws and fixings we choose stainless steel rather than galvanized, because the first rust almost always starts at a screw head.

Every leaf is built the same way regardless of the model: an Ereğli A1-grade 2 mm sheet frame, a 1.5 + 1.5 mm omega-folded monoblock leaf 90 mm thick, and 80 kg/m³ rock wool as the core fill. The lock and hinge areas are reinforced to 3 mm, and the lock itself is an Italian Mottura or Mul-T-Lock unit.
In Bornova, Buca and the inland districts the class drops to C3, and there a standard exterior specification is enough for a flat or building entrance door. The specification changes as you move toward the bay.

An exterior door faces rain, sun and the day-to-night temperature swing head-on, so the cladding decision matters more than anything else. We use compact laminate, composite and marine plywood claddings that hold up outdoors, 304-grade stainless hardware as standard, and Şişecam 5+5 mm laminated glass in glazed models.
Along the coast the sea breeze carries salt kilometers inland, so stainless hardware is standard rather than an upgrade. We use stainless screws and fixings too: the first rust on a coastal door almost always starts at a fastener head, not on the leaf.

A pivot door carries its weight on floor and ceiling bearings instead of hinges, which is what makes sizes above 1.2 m and leaf weights past 200 kg possible. The bearing set is the critical component: we use a load-rated pivot system, and the floor bearing is positioned against the structural slab during installation, not into the screed.
Pivot entrances are common in the gated developments along the Çeşme–Urla line. Those addresses sit in the C4 band, so the bearing set is specified in stainless steel and the leaf gets a multi-layer paint system.

Component warranties follow their own manufacturers — up to 25 years on the lock system. Outdoors, durability comes down to the specification: an Ereğli A1-grade body, a cladding rated for exterior use such as compact laminate or composite, stainless hardware and a multi-layer paint system.
Which door suits a house 500 meters from the sea?
You are free to choose any model; what matters is the surface treatment and the hardware. We build the same model with a coastal package: stainless steel hardware, stainless steel fixings and increased coating thickness.
Do the white salt marks on the door surface cause damage?
They look harmless in themselves, but they draw in moisture and keep a permanently damp film on the surface, and that is where the damage comes from. Rinsing regularly with fresh water is the simplest and most effective care.
