The coastal strip sits in ISO 9223 class C3-C4 and the surface there is wet more often than it is dry. Inland, toward Yusufeli and Şavşat, the class drops as the valleys become drier, but the humidity remains above the national average.
What puts a door to the test in Artvin?
Rain is close to constant on the coast and the surface never really dries. Water clings to horizontal surfaces and profile joints, and moisture behind a gasket has no chance to drain. On steep ground run-off arrives at the entrance rather than pooling in front of it.
Delivery and installation
Deliveries are planned in batches and the survey is combined with the installation. Access is the recurring problem: steep, narrow roads mean the leaf often has to be carried the last stretch, and that is planned before production.

Every leaf is built the same way regardless of the model: an Ereğli A1-grade 2 mm sheet frame, a 1.5 + 1.5 mm omega-folded monoblock leaf 90 mm thick, and 80 kg/m³ rock wool as the core fill. The lock and hinge areas are reinforced to 3 mm, and the lock itself is an Italian Mottura or Mul-T-Lock unit.
The surface here is wet more often than it is dry, so seams are sealed, the lower edge is drained and the coating thickness is increased. On the coast the moving parts are stainless without exception.

An exterior door faces rain, sun and the day-to-night temperature swing head-on, so the cladding decision matters more than anything else. We use compact laminate, composite and marine plywood claddings that hold up outdoors, 304-grade stainless hardware as standard, and Şişecam 5+5 mm laminated glass in glazed models.
We do not use frames with a wooden element outdoors in this province — timber never fully dries in this rainfall. The threshold is planned for run-off arriving at the door rather than for standing water.

A pivot door carries its weight on floor and ceiling bearings instead of hinges, which is what makes sizes above 1.2 m and leaf weights past 200 kg possible. The bearing set is the critical component: we use a load-rated pivot system, and the floor bearing is positioned against the structural slab during installation, not into the screed.
Pivot doors go into the newer houses in the valleys. Access is the recurring constraint: the last stretch is often carried, so frame and leaf are planned to be assembled at the entrance.

No. In this rainfall timber never dries fully and the cladding works loose within a few years. A compact laminate or composite gives the same appearance and holds up; the moving parts should be stainless.
The door is at the bottom of a slope and water reaches it. What helps?
A drainage channel in front of the entrance, the correct slope away from the door and a bottom profile with a drip edge. Sealing the leaf harder does not help if water is arriving at the threshold and staying there.
