Kars Steel Doors & Made-to-Measure Villa Door Manufacturing
Kars is high plateau with one of the hardest winters in the country, and the centre has a stock of stone buildings from the Russian period whose facades are protected. A door here has to survive extreme cold and, in the old quarter, satisfy a conservation rulebook while doing it.
Districts we serve: Merkez, Sarıkamış, Kağızman, Selim, Digor, Arpaçay
Corrosion exposure
The dry, extremely cold climate puts the province in ISO 9223 class C2. Corrosion is effectively absent as a design factor; temperature and wind decide everything.
What puts a door to the test in Kars?
Winter temperatures reach into the minus thirties and the frost period runs for months. The indoor-outdoor difference passes 50 degrees, which turns an uninsulated leaf into a conduction path and puts ice on the inner face. Wind across the plateau drives snow into any gap.
Delivery and installation
Deliveries are planned in batches and the survey, production and installation are arranged as one programme. Winter installation is difficult — sealants do not cure in deep frost — so we aim to complete entrances before the season closes.
How we build for Kars
A thermally broken leaf with high insulation in the core fill is the starting point, with a cold-rated double gasket line, an automatic drop seal and a multi-point lock on exposed entrances. For the protected stone buildings we match colour and proportion to the facade and agree the design before production.
Kars Made-to-Measure Steel Door Manufacturing
Every leaf is built the same way regardless of the model: an Ereğli A1-grade 2 mm sheet frame, a 1.5 + 1.5 mm omega-folded monoblock leaf 90 mm thick, and 80 kg/m³ rock wool as the core fill. The lock and hinge areas are reinforced to 3 mm, and the lock itself is an Italian Mottura or Mul-T-Lock unit.
At a 50-degree difference the thermal break is where the specification starts. The gasket is rated well below freezing and the lock keep is placed where water cannot collect and freeze in it.

An exterior door faces rain, sun and the day-to-night temperature swing head-on, so the cladding decision matters more than anything else. We use compact laminate, composite and marine plywood claddings that hold up outdoors, 304-grade stainless hardware as standard, and Şişecam 5+5 mm laminated glass in glazed models.
An exterior door gets high insulation in the core fill, a cold-rated double gasket line, an automatic drop seal and a multi-point lock on exposed entrances. For the protected stone buildings the colour and proportion are agreed before production.

A pivot door carries its weight on floor and ceiling bearings instead of hinges, which is what makes sizes above 1.2 m and leaf weights past 200 kg possible. The bearing set is the critical component: we use a load-rated pivot system, and the floor bearing is positioned against the structural slab during installation, not into the screed.
Pivot doors are specified sparingly in this climate: a wide leaf takes heavy wind and snow load. Where one is used, the bearing is dimensioned for lateral load and the swing is limited by a floor stop.

Common questions from Kars
Does Bayrakdoor carry out a free site survey in Kars?
Yes, and there are two ways to do it. The online survey is free and immediate: you send photographs and the measurements of the opening, and we return a written quote. For confirmed orders the on-site survey is also free — we combine it with the installation in a single trip to Kars, so the distance costs you nothing.
How many days does delivery take for a steel door or villa door ordered in Kars?
Production takes 20-25 days once the measurements are approved, plus road transport to Kars. The figure moves with the specification: cladding, lock system and non-standard dimensions all affect it. Shipments are planned in batches and the installation date is fixed at the time of the order, so it appears in your written quote rather than being estimated afterwards.
What is the warranty on villa doors used outdoors, and how durable are the materials?
Manufacturing and workmanship defects are covered with no time limit, and a two-year official warranty certificate is issued on delivery. Component warranties follow their own manufacturers — up to 25 years on the lock system. Outdoors, durability comes down to the specification: an Ereğli A1-grade body, a cladding rated for exterior use such as compact laminate or composite, stainless hardware and a multi-layer paint system.
Ice forms on the inside of the door. What is wrong?
The leaf has no thermal break, or it is inadequate for this climate. Across a 50-degree difference the steel conducts the cold straight through and indoor moisture freezes on the inner face. A properly broken and insulated leaf keeps the inner surface near room temperature.
Can a steel door go into one of the old stone buildings?
Yes, provided the appearance meets the conservation requirements — colour, proportion and detailing are agreed before production. The core is steel, so the door performs like any other in this climate.
How the process works in Kars
Just send us the code of the model you like. Our team travels to Kars, measures the width, height and wall thickness of the door opening, and checks the installation conditions on site. We then prepare a written, itemized quote. The site survey is free and doesn't commit you to anything.
Manufacturing happens at our own factory in Gaziosmanpaşa, Istanbul, and our own team handles installation. With no middlemen involved, one company is responsible for measurement, production and service.
Request your free survey for Kars
Send the measurements of the door opening and a photograph over WhatsApp and we will price it the same day — the survey is free and places you under no obligation. If you would rather talk it through, give us a call; a model code is enough to start.
